1981 Jeep CJ7 Restoration - 2020.04.01

With the front axle done, the next step is to get it on wheels, then attach the leaf springs. Before doing that, I needed to measure the U-bolts and see where I needed to cut them. The spring plates I have are skid plates that protect the nuts and the ends of the U-bolts that secure the leaf springs to the axle.

Some good ole hacksaw work after taking some measurements to be sure that there was enough U-bolt to give the nuts purchase, while not having the ends stick out past the skid plate on the spring plates.

Things worked out rather well, fairly straightforward.

Leaf springs attached and skid plate spring plates installed.
