Quick post today. I had a very hard time getting the harmonic damper back on and got uncomfortable very quickly with trying to hammer it on with a block of wood so I stopped and ordered a harmonic balancer installer. This was money well spent and I'm glad I waited to get the tool. A lot can go wrong when you don't have enough thread engagement to have the crankshaft end bolt grab enough to press the damper on. You risk stripping the threads which could be disastrous.

With this tool, one end threads all the way into the thread in the end of the crankshaft, then a large nut presses against a collar with a bearing in it to apply even pressure to the damper. It went on quite easily just using 2 hand wrenches. Another lesson in using the right tools for the job.

Harmonic damper correctly installed.
