1974 Ducati 750 GT Restoration - 2018.12.24

It's been a month since I did anything with the Ducati. As noted in my recent CJ7 post, I've been busy with a lot of work and personal tasks, but am taking some long awaited down-time during the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Getting back to the GT, I started thinking about the frame/chassis and it mostly looks good, but I've convinced myself that while I have this thing torn down, why not take it all the way down and restore the frame, swingarm, center stand, triple tree, and fork lowers?

First order of business is to get the wheels off. Seems pretty straight forward, and it is. The front wheel came off very easily, and I didn't take any photos of the process, or the front wheel for that matter. Funny thing, I'm not sure how original the components are, and I'm seeing strange things - like the master cylinder is Brembo, but the front rotor is a Scarab, which is 278mm in diameter, whereas a Brembo rotor is 280mm. I'm not quite sure what caliper I have, so there is a good chance that the front brake components are completely incompatible.

The rear seems to be untouched and I feel this way since things were much more difficult to get apart - as if they'd been sitting there for 44 years. Nothing was seized, but not completely loose either.

I didn't get too far today, but started to try and take the swingarm off after getting the rear wheel loose. I pulled the end caps off of the swingarm pivot, loosened the frame clamps, then tried to gently tap out the pivot pin. There was zero movement and it was getting late, so I decided to call it a day.
